by Lily C. on Buddha Bar. I was just there this past Saturday with my mom dad sister and two brothers who were in from Arizona. I'd previously been to TAO and kind of figured this was going to be the same kind of experience. It was. Right down to the huge buddha in the back of the room. I mean, this is fine, TAO wasn't bad, but this just seemed very eerily identical. The same kind of food, same kind of ambiance. Service was very good. I'm simple and therefore always impressed when a server doesn't need to write down you're order and can just remember it. :) Now, I believe we ordered a bunch of sushi appetizers, and some kind of salad. I didn't eat that much but my family loved it! Now, the main course. I think three of us had the teriyaki salmon, and we all really liked it. It came with some kind of rice that seemed like it was basically just butter. Wasn't so much a fan. Shouldn't the butter highlight the taste, not BE the taste? We also had a few sides. Garlic Mashed Potatoes= BUTTER. I don't even remember what else we got cause all I remember is butter running down my throat!!! Anyway. Nice atmosphere, definitely trendy, fun to take out of towners too because they'll probably be impressed.
by Mack Camelo on Meow. Meow. Meow. I'm reminded of that poem "The Owl and the Pussycat". I ate a bacon dog outside the club prior to going in and flirted shamelessly with the doorman to afford my pals and I free cover charge. *Note: I am actually the daughter of a patron of the Hells Angels so I don't recommend nor endorse this tactic if you don't have any credibility or knowledge on your side* This didn't aid nor abet me when I attempted to get drinks past the last call though. Which meant that we left shortly thereafter. Which was okay by me. *sigh* I think I'm getting old. It's just not that big of a deal anymore. Granted, I am posting this at 4:45am and I left Cat Club at 3am. Still, in my heyday, nothing would have stopped me from getting "a fix". Today, not so much so. Goodbye San Francisco Halloween. Let's see if my sojourn to Hawaii is better/different/similar. Perhaps I will meet the Owl there and we can go for a canoe ride under the moon.
