I've only been to Cat Club for Hot Pants which is on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, but it always delivers. Hot Pants is a "ladies and their guests" event. hint hint. But what's great about it is the open-minded variety that shows up. The majority of the crowd is queer young women in varying degrees, but theres always straight girls, guys, oldies, whatever. No one cares. People just stick to their groups and hang out. The bar tenders are nice and fast. The Cat Club has two rooms. Theres the front room which has a huge bar, tables along the wall and a big dance floor that plays 80s pop. The much more popular back room has another bar and a crowded dance floor with a hip hop DJ and some raised platforms. Everyone really gets into the dancing and if you're feeling particularly sassy(as I always am)you can get up on the platforms and shake it for everyone. If you want to smoke or just hang out in an alley ( if you're really cool like that) then theres a narrow one on the side of the club. Navigating down the gauntlet is fun and you always find some comraderie along the way. One of my favorite things about the night is what is played on the big movie screens in each room. Its an amalgamation of vintage porn, variety shows and PSAs. Totally kitch and tongue-in-cheek. If for some reason you don't feel like dancing, you'll be endlessly entertained by the screens. Hot Pants doesn't get busy 'till 11 so if you get there before that it might be a relaxing way to unwind with your friends before you go dance crazy, or you can stand around awkwardly waiting for the crowd to arrive. You decide.

This place is pretty unique in that the balcony is very stylish and perches you almost right on top of the band. The stage is a little small but seems antique and full of character. The beer is moderately priced and the staff is pretty cool. I can't really speak of the downstairs too much. The food was alright but nothing mind-blowing. It is a revolving menu, though, so maybe I just had bad luck with the food.
