It's hard to review bOb Bar because my view on this place has changed over the years. This was one of the very first hip hop bars that I went to almost a decade ago. Back then, there was no AC, never a cover, no artwork on the walls. A couple friends worked the bar and another friend usually DJ'ed. I LOVED thiis place back in those days. They played the old school hip hop and R&B jams that no other spot played in the city. It didn't matter that it got super crowded and sweaty in there. It was just fun. Over the years, though, I started going here less. Yes, now there's AC and cover and my friends have moved on to work at other establishments. However, I still would occassionally drag people along and come back. When I did, I ran into a little bit more attitude from the other people. Yes, it's crowded but people need to realize that a bump here and there does not mean we want to fight. I also started to really feel the small space around the bar area where you can order a drink. It was just tougher to get in there. This place is just ok now. So, because I remember the good times we've had here, I'm still a fan of this place. I would recommend coming here before 11:30 or after 2:30pm, however, when the music is still good but there's more space to roam.

If you love the 80's like I do... then Thursday nights are for you! Every song that spins on Thursdays brings me back to when I was a child; when leg warmers first came out, acid washed jeans, high hair, hair spray, folded jeans, spandex!!!! It's all coming back! 1984 rocks!!!!
