Interesting place. I came here the week of my birthday and got in free. Yay! They were also having a birthday raffle, so that was kind of cool... Now if only I won! Most of the exhibits were open, and I managed to get tickets to the planetarium for myself and a bunch of friends.  We got there at 5:30, and there WAS a line, so if you want to get into the planetarium sometime that night, I'd say 5:30 is the perfect time to come.  Don't forget that the rainforest closes early too!  I went by the suggestion of a fellow ratecluber and got planetarium tickets for their last showing (8:30) so I could go to the rainforest and all that good stuff.  I have to admit getting around to all the exhibits before the place closed was pretty difficult to do in four hours though.  We were running around so much that I didn't even get a chance to buy a drink! I've never been to this place during the daytime, but I don't see why I would need to. This is the kind of place I'd go to only once, maybe twice, but thats pushing it.  Like everyone else said, the Nightlife makes a good date night! This DOES make me a little curious about the Exploratorium nightlife though :)

'Watch your elbows going down"   A piece of sound advice that I should have listened to, but I was too mesmerized by the dark gaping maw of the eponymous slide.   Since I was wearing pants, I was the only one of the girls to take the plunge.   Unfortunately, all the margaritas I had already had earlier that night had the effect of making me careen like a drunken sorority girl and thoroughly bang up my elbows on the sides and edges of the slides. In spite of this not so auspicious start, once we got to the bar, the night improved. Well, when I say get to the bar, I mean I could see the bar.   Girls in short shorts and high heels and guys in button downs were packed  4 deep, so we just started dancing to the 80's mashup. Funnily enough the music sounded eerily the same to the music we had just heard in the Etiquette Lounge. The floor was really crowded so we moved over to the sofa/loungey area.   It's a good place to check out the eye candy on the dance floor.   The cameras that look out the street level were pretty cool too- kinda surreal to just see the feet walking by. The free entrance and the novelty factor would  probably draw me back here.
