by Christie Shiflett on I miss this place!! I haven't been back since I moved to Astoria. I used to work around the corner, and we used to go around twice a week. It's a great alternative to the sometimes overcrowded and frat boy scene at Brother Jimmy's next door. They have cheap drinks and drink specials seemingly all the time. The best is the back room or library, where you can just hang out on one of the comfy couches with your half-yard of beer in your hands. EDIT: I went back to Jake's the other night for the first time in about 3 years. Boy did I feel old and out of place. I guess it's still the same as it used to be, but I've changed. I was going to take away a star, but it's still a good bar, if you're into the drunken frat boy scene.
by Amy D. on Went here for an event a few weeks ago that was sa mok in. The DJ before the band went on was great and the event itself had just the right crowd. Drinks were on the stiff side, but I'm not complainin. Great nest at the top to watch the crowd. Have fun.
