by Monnie Garacci on I went last Saturday so the day after the opening night. The place was packed! but thats to be expected opening weekend. The layout of the place enabled them to handle the crowd relatively well. Like others mentioned the 3 rooms(with 3 different tpyes of music) gives you options and the hallways in between are pretty big and give you space. I liked how diverse the crowd was. You had black, white, asian, old, young you name it. I'd compare it to Sutra but with more latin people (obviously everthing on a bigger scale). Drink prices weren't bad and service was quick if you pick a good bar spot to hit up (the lower level of the main room was a good spot). I spent most of my time in the main room, when I got there the band played about 3 more songs then gave way to the DJ. Overall I'd say it was a good experience. I like that there is another club option in Buckhead and its not a $20cover (Havana is $10 for guys, free for girls).
by Rosina Wekenborg on I've been here a few times and both times it was ok. The dance floor on the 3rd floor is too small for a "club" this size. It's alright if your just going to be here for a minute...otherwise, there are better places along 6th st to hit up. The one thing I will say about this place that is awesome...is Wed. nights....$1 ANYTHINGS...anything...like literally. Imagine how wasted one could get for under $10...but the drinks are a hit and miss. I swear some of my drinks were pure juice...but just ask the bartender to add more they generally will. Other than that...there's not much else to mention that others haven't.
by Sarah R. on I had mixed feelings going in to Middlesex, based mostly on hearsay and the reviews I've read. My verdict: mehhhhhhh. I'm sure that had I gone to Hearthrob, it would have (possibly) been a different experience altogether than the Friday night crowd I encountered. My main motivation for going: it was Kabir H's birthday, and of course I was going to make an appearance. I got there around 9:30, which was early enough to avoid gargantuan lines and crowds. My friends were already inside bopping to "Never Gonna Get It". What's up, '90s black girl groups? As many others have mentioned, the decor is very minimalist. Cubes rule the space here. However, as Ligaya so astutely pointed out, the space doesn't have a very good "flow" to it. I must agree. The DJ was decent. The crowd--ehhh, for that night, I feel like it wasn't my scene. Again, had it been Hearthrob, I'm sure I would have felt more at home, but what can you do? I battled a tall girl at the bar for the bartender's attentions. She may have pushed her way to the front of the bar, but my formidable boobs won the war. Bwahahahaha! Another one bites the dust!
