For all you idiots, the American Legion - Cummings Prather Post 193 is not a lounge, a night club, a resaurant, a funeral home or grandma house. The American Legion is the nation’s preeminent service organization for veterans of the U.S. armed forces, including active duty, National Guard and Reserves, and their families. Since its founding in Paris in 1919, The American Legion has been an advocate for America's veterans, a friend of the U.S. military, a sponsor of community-based programs for young people and a spokesman for patriotic values. Nearly 2.8 million members make it the nation's largest veterans group, with about 15,000 local "posts" in most communities and six foreign countries. Membership is restricted to men and women who served in the U.S. military during an official period of conflict.

Okay... for you people who think this is a lame and stupid place, you are screwed up. I've been going here since i was born. This is a nice place for VETRANS to go and relax. IT IS NOT A NIGHTCLUB OR ANY KIND OF PARTY PLACE. It isn't a restaurant either. It's a bar pretty much. They have events that do have music and food, but not every day of every week. This is a place that respects those who have fought in the wars and been apart of one, and with you guys saying shit like this place is retarded and stuff, is telling me you disrespect vetrans and don't apprciate what they do for this country.

A friend of mine asked me to go check out this place so I said OK.  He said to just mention his name at the door and that I am on his list.  So one Saturday night, another friend and I decided to check it out. This place is located on the north side of Northern Blvd in the Flushing area.  But it is basically in the Whitestone neighbourhood.  While walking there, at some point, I think my friend and I crossed over an invisible line between where the Asians are and where the white people are.  When we got inside, my friend and I immediately noticed we were the only Asian people there.  My friend remarked that we looked like the waiters, hahhah! Despite the name, this place is not a "lounge" like I was expecting.  And as such, I was kind of under-dressed in my jeans and long-sleeve t-shirt.  Area Lounge is basically a nightclub.  It has a fully stocked bar, seating area, a dance floor, and good looking hostesses and waitresses.  The music was loud and upbeat.  By all accounts, it's a pretty nice nightclub.  I think if I was still in my 20s, I would have appreciated it a lot more.  But I've done all the clubbing I needed to do in my younger days, and on top of that, all the raves I've been to when the rave culture was still going strong has left me without much of a desire to go clubbing anymore. We left after about 45 minutes there.  I think people who like to go clubbing will appreciate this place, but it just wasn't for me and my friend.

I had to write a review just because this place is so retarded. I came here when it just opened and i didn't have a problem getting in, we were on a list. But... what i hate about places like this, is that its so lame. Its like High school! Its sad to see other people enjoying some thing like this and writing good reviews. All the people here are fakes. and stare!!! Its not a legit crowd. ugghhh so annoying. To sum it up, it totally reminds me of 'JERSEY SHORE! GUIDO SHIT'. LAME. PERIOD.

This place is beyond tacky. Maybe I would think differently if I was a senior citizen, but for real....the decor of the place reminded me of two things....1. a funeral home and 2. my grandmothers house, which really aren't very much different. My friend and I were probably the only two people apart from restaurant staff below the age of 60.  The food was ok. I don't think it was anything spectacular, and also somewhat overpriced. Worth the laugh to see old men's wives chowing down on their gigantic tomatos because they are "vegetarian." The waiter knocked over our two glasses of wine.  We had to actually request 2 new glasses be brought, and then they had the nerve to try to charge us for them. The Barclay Prime is better.
