So I went all the way to New York from Boston for a 24-hour stay partly because I wanted to try this place. It's not like I found the fountain of youth or the last Coke can in the desert, but I felt satisfied with Mamajuana. Mamajuana is an interesting place to be in, where as a Dominican you feel both the object of study and the researcher. The thesis could be called something like "the uprising Dominican bourgeoisie of Washington Heights." Definitely Mamajuana is a place of choosing for those who want to be seen in the Heights (nothing wrong with that), so I obliged to their desires and observed. To the more trivial matters... for ~$21 per person you get access to the brunch, which featured mangú (4/5), steak tips (4/5), rice, black beans (4/5), roasted pork (4/5) et alter. Oh, you also get unlimited Jack Daniel's fruit punch that had more of a pink color. I'll come back next time I'm in NYC to taste their dinner menu and also partake in the dancing.

I love this place...if you're in love with Dancehall this is the place to go to in Manhattan. Free before Midnight and only 15$ afterwards, drinks are not too expensive and well mixed...

Let's get this straight...I do not wait in lines to get into clubs. I just don't. Why should I? I'm a chick, that's life. Here was a place that wasn't very accommodating about letting the female persuasion in without prior notice of our arrival. So we just asked the 60 year old dude from Laguna Beach outside if he was VIP and could get us in. He happily obliged. I was immediately disappointed with this place.....house music, darker than sin, and brick walls. It's a night club! Helloooo, brick walls? What kind of adumbration is that? It just doesn't go. We were there for a quick pee and Belvedere Cran. So glad we didn't have to wait in line.
