Back in the day before Silk changed owners, you could go into the diner at 3:00 am and have some of the most delicious, fluorescent yellow pancakes ever made. Now, that the diner has undergone some big changes and their menu is wayyyy more swanky, I've spent less time here at 3am and much more time here on Sundays for brunch. Yesterday, I stopped in with a friend and as usual, there was a wait. I can't freaking wait until Spring when the patio is open and the throngs can spill outside and cut the wait in half. The important thing to keep in mind when waiting for a brunch table is "does the food justify the wait?" Certainly, in this case, it did. I had some crazy poached-egg-blackened-drum-watercress-salad-cheesy -potato-grits combo yesterday and it was quite possibly the best plate of food I have eaten in weeks. Triple yum. Zero meh. My friend is a much more serious foodie (she's a, ya know, chef and all...) and had the pork-belly-potato-pancake-egg combo. It was also delicious, though she commented on the fact that she would trim the pork belly much better. The brunch menu is particularly interesting because every dish seems to be a combination platter. Since I love food and like to have a little of everything in every single meal, this was greatly appreciated. Oh, and the Pimm's Cup was a pretty delicious drink, though perhaps too sweet for breakfast. As usual, the servers were politely disengaged, helpful with the menu, but not all that excited about life. Though in their defense, they all look like they party every Saturday night and then, come in to work on Sunday morning to serve all of us bast#$ds.

If your significant other and you are nerds, you MUST come here. This place is PERFECT for a nerdy yet stylish date! =D If you and your buddies wanna experience a totally epic venue where you can walk around publically buzzed with ample breathing room, this is the place to come! ---Here are my recommendations--- 1) Pre-party. Drinks here are indeed skimpy and on the pricey side. (1 bottle of a very meager selection of beer cost $7). 2) Park on Fulton near 10th, so you don't have to cash out $11 for parking. Walk into the park past the De Young Museum. (So pretty at night and the walk is quite nice!) 3) Go to the Living Roof. 4) Go to the Aquarium 5) Dance in the African Room. 6) See the Albino Aligator. 7) Check your carbon footprint. 8) ATTIRE: Totally chill. A majority of people here do NOT dress up as if they're going clubbin, and you'll be totally fine if you just come in comfortable shoes and maybe a cute jacket =). 9) Purchase your $12 ticket ahead of time online! ---My suggestions to the event coordinators--- 1) Section off another room with a huge dance floor with a better selection of music (ie: hip hop) and dimmer lights and I GUARANTEE profit will increase! 2) Please extend Rain Forest hours. We didn't get to see it because we came too late =(. They close at 7:30pm! Why so early? Thanks so much! ~Gail PS: It's penguin mating season... PPS: Wow. This place has TOTALLY been renovated since 5th grade..!

I seriously love this bar. I've been coming here on and off since I moved to Atlanta in 03....at one point in time I was there every Friday night. The clientele has changed a bit over the years (dresses and Buckhead girls? At this place?) but the food is still fantastic, the PBR is cheap, the service is excellent and the free popcorn is always fresh. The veggie burger is my favorite thing on the menu. I'm a meat eater, but am not adverse to healthful non-meat options, as long as they dont taste like grass, smell like too much wheat or are generally a salad on a bun. This veggie burger is in a tie for "GREAT" with The Flying Biscuit's Angel Burger. I love how the Local's burger is not too big, not too small and still makes me feel like I'm eating a meat burger. Order it with tater tots and you wont be disappointed.
