Always been one of my favorite clubs in the city! Perfect blend of classy old school supper club style where peeps like the Rat Pack might be found sipping martinis with a blend of modern casual comfort. Great assortment of bands and performances to be found here. Note - bar is cash only.

I had the BEST time at slide last night (Thursday) They had discounted bottle service and Free champagne till 11. I showed up about 11:15pm with 5 girls and a guy for my table....they waked us right in even though there was a long line outside. The vodka and mixers were yummy and we had a great table on the dance floor. The have a lot of tables and they're big and nice! I paid $130 for vodka and mixers including tip for the table, so almost cheaper than buying drinks. There was a DJ spinning house music and it wasn't the annoying crap, but good danceable stuff (I'm more of an 80's, pop, hip hop fan for clubs) The crowd seemed pretty nice, although there seemed to be a lot of guys (but it also might be because our table had 5 girls at it going crazy and they all seemed to flocking that way) The slide was closed and I was in a dress so no go on that...I liked the decor and the bathrooms were big and nice (at least the women's) I didn't buy mixed drinks, but did get a tap water at the bar and they were really nice about it and no charge. Not sure what the cover was that night.....Fox from Daisy of Love showed up and chatted a bit, and there was a photographer floating around too. Good- Decor Tables (lots of them, cheap and comfy, fits lots of people) Crowd was well dressed Clean club Bad- Got a little crowded around 12:30, but hey if it's a good club that happens!

The food alone is worth four stars, but the attitude is enough for me to dock one star. This is an excellent cheese steak, no doubt about it. Although it ranks third among the Big Three (Jim's, Pat's, and Geno's) for me, I'd still happily eat this steak forever if I had to. The onion topping is great, and the option to get birch beer is a great touch.  The steaks are easily the smallest among the Big Three, but the taste is still excellent.  I prefer "Provy wit" (provolone cheese with onions), which isn't the classic Philadelphia style, but I did try the "Whiz wit" today, and I thought it was a unique taste. Very flavorful, but the taste of Whiz just isn't my thing. The fries are quite good, but nothing really special. Now, for the attitude. They strongly support the Philadelphia police force, which I obviously have no problem with.  But they do it to a point where it's just invasive of the friendly eating environment that I prefer. Also, they feel very strongly that everyone in America should speak English all the time, as supported by their semi-famous "Speak English" campaign, complete with t-shirts.  This is typical American egotism and it outrages me. I feel like a lot of the blue-collar heart of Philadelphia shares this attitude and it makes me glad I left.  If you look at a photo that I uploaded, you will see a hilariously ironic message on the owner's vehicle, which reads as follows: Joey Vento say's [sic] this is America! "Speak English" Hey Joey, maybe you should go ahead and learn English before you start pushing it on people who haven't been surrounded by it since the day they were born.
