I typically frequent this place on Thursday nights for Element's Drum and Bass. The cover is $5 unless someone big is playing like Evol Intent for example, then you can expect to pay $15 or $20. It's wise to bring ear plugs as well, they get it bumping and no one has qualms about shaking a tail feather. The music gets 4 stars, but today I'm rating the food. I have to say I was impressed by the food, I didn't have high hopes because it was a pub but everything was pretty good. I ordered a mushroom risotto that was creamy delicious but a bit on the rich side. The table service was so very slow, so it loses a star. In my non-food experience... a few of the bar tenders tend to be heavy handed with the liquor drinks, so don't say that you haven't been warned. Another side note, what ever you do don't ask for an Irish Car Bomb, my friend made this mistake once, to which the reply was... "I don't come to your city and ask for a 9/11." The tough love from the bar is admirable. I'm also glad they put new bathroom stalls in, investing back into your establishment really makes your frequent customers take note. Bravo!

Hope the performer you're seeing is good because this place can't get by on the food alone! The menu is decent at best, with portion size making up for other inadequacies. Probably better to stick to the drink menu which is extensive, though low on innovation outside the quirky names for traditional drinks. Given all of that, the experience is really all about the music which is too variable to even try to review... Nachos: These could feed an entire pueblo! Easily 5-7 layers of nachos glued together with freshly baked on cheese and topped with fist-sized gobs of sour cream, guacamole and salsa. I was digging the crispy cheese, but disliked the guacamole and salsa since it didn't taste particularly fresh. Cheese Fries: Cheese Fries faux pas, they let the fries get soggy! Granted, it is a delicate art to balance the crispy fries with the freshly melted cheese, but not so enjoyable when a fail. A big portion, but not nearly as monstrous as the nachos.

Basically I only go here when artists I like are performing. The drawbacks: cash only bar, not very well mixed drinks (I don't like beer), long entrance lines, poor ventilation (I got way way way too overheated), and large crowds. The nice points: relatively easy to see the performers as the stage is high enough off the floor. Given that I'm not the tallest person, that's a plus. From other reviews, its different based on who's running the night. But until I get a stellar night, my rating stands.
