Same ol taboo 2. Went on amateur comedy night with my homegirl. The comedians were terrible and the food was overpriced. If anything, thought a black establishment would recognize a struggling economy. Anyhow, this is definitely the place for black cougars and ol playas to recapture their days from the late 80s , and 90s.

Yoshi's is expensive, make sure Mrs. Cleaver brings her purse because you'll be shelling it out at Yoshi's. I got a sushi roll, it was good, cut into five (5) pieces. Cost $17. Ha. Other items on the menu fight with each other for most expensive on the menu, like the trees in a rainforest fighting for the sunlight, they're all around the same height. But is the food good? Sure. Is it the best...Asian fusion in town? Nope. Yoshi's tries to sell itself on the atmosphere and its reviews as they have SF Chronicle articles about it plastered in the lobby. The jazz is fine, but unless you're paying extra for the separate show, it is not all that. They had some guys playing in the lounge of the restaurant for a while, but soon it gave way to Lady Gaga played over the stereo. Yes, Lady Gaga, then Michael Jackson. Not really what I thought I'd get at Yoshi's Jazz Club on a Friday evening with my boo, ya know? The restaurant is part of a nice building and has a nice modern decor to it, so you get the feeling you wore that sport coat for a reason, but the service sort of cancels any of that out. We arrived at 8:10 for our 8:15 reservation, were told we could have a drink in the lounge while we waited (about 12 empty tables in the restaurant at this point) - we sat there 30 minutes before I approached the host and asked WTF, then we were seated immediately with a nice snarky remark. Really not a big fan of Yoshi's, and it seems those that are get sucked in by the novelty of a live jazz band, a trendy bar area, and valet parking.

Went here last week to get my freak on. What a success! Not only that, but it was 90's night, so I knew every song...including return of the mack. After the club, I went into some random guys Land Rover to smoke a J! Then, I was real fucked up and in dire need of some munchies. Solution? MELS diner with a bunch of friends. All in all it was a good night at a good spot in Soma. minus one star because I lost my phone in the taxi on the way to mels.
