AAARRRIIIBBBAAA!!!!! When Bar hoping on Cahuaga Blvd Velvet Margarita is a must stop. What separates this place from the other bars on the street is the food, Margaritas(obviously) and classy colorful atmosphere. Food: A bit on the pricey side for Mexican food, but well worth every penny! I love salsa and bean dip they bring to the table, cant stop nibbling, but don't eat to much because their portions are generous. I recommend the chicken and steak burritos they also have an outstanding veggie quesadilla. Margaritas: only $5.00, really tasty made with Jimador Silver making very smooth and heart warming. Ambiance: I love being here I don't know why there is just something about it that makes me feel at home, I try to hit it up at least once per month. They have a great patio for you smokers and the bar area is large enough to make a dance floor if the going gets rough ; ). If you are lucky you can come across some celebs like Vince Vaughn and Seth Green.

Don't ever ever ever go clubbing on a weekend night here. It's an overpriced, 18+, tourist / B&T / ghetto crapola-fest. As a concert venue it's far better than many of its rateclubs detractors would have you believe. It's sort of like a larger Irving Plaza - a standing room only concert space (it was built as a nightclub, so has that kind of main floor space, but has been repurposed, shrewdly by its owners, as a midweek concert venue). The sound is not even close to as bad as has been said here. I think they recently redid their system, and the sound for Peter Bjorn & John with Fujiya & Miyagi was crisp, clear, well balanced and punchy, but not too loud. I'm very critical of venues and sound systems - it's just wrong to pay $40 or so for a concert and not have a venue that provides good sound - and I've never had a complaint here. The only thing that's annoying about the place is it is not all that well laid out and can be crowded and uncomfortable. Standing for a long time anywhere is uncomfortable, but if there weer more entry ways to the main floor which cut down on the numbers of people moving back & forth all the time, and flowed the crowd through the entire space better, I think it would lead to a little more room to move and dance, and improve the discomfort of having to stand in the same place for the whole time.
