by Dana F. on I've gone here a few times for parties on Wednesday nights. There are 2 floors. The upstairs part is very bridge and tunnel-esque, whereas the downstairs has more of a hipster/indie crowd. I was surprised to find out what they charge for drinks here, considering the location. From what I can tell, there aren't any bathrooms downstairs so walking up and down the flight of stairs is quite the daunting task 3 vodka/sodas later. The DJs downstairs seem to like their Macbooks equipped with Ableton. There was one time I took it upon myself (a few drinks into the evening, naturally) to make some remark questioning their abilities as DJs by using iTunes Genius/various algorithms. I didn't win any friends over (at least not with the DJs) that night. All in all, I feel like this place is trying too hard to be "exclusive" and I would go elsewhere...there are so many superior bars that the LES has to offer.
by Kathlyn Situ on Any establishment boasting leather-padded ceilings gets an automatic five stars from me. Well, maybe not an automatic five stars, but having an open bar sure helps. I went here to attend an after-party for one of the Tribeca Film Festival showings, so being both star-struck and drunk probably skewed my perception of Home. But it was really cool! I swear! You'll have fun, too! Granted, I did not meet De Niro here. That was upsetting. Then several rounds of free vodka remedied the problem. And that's when I started to notice the leather ceiling pads.
