As far as clubs go, this is one of the better ones -- at least in terms of music selection. Case in point -- I've heard Bel Biv DeVoe on at least half the occasions I've been here. Any place that has a BBD ratio greater than 1/2 is ok with me. ( http://www.youtube.com...) In terms of attendance, the place is usually packed, and the gender ratios aren't always the most flattering. That said, its an ok place to go if you've got someone accompanying you...and if you can, hit up a bathroom before you get here, otherwise you might be in line for awhile....

Nice decor and painting, but really nothing out of this world for someone who is used to New York or even L.A. But for those of us stuck in SF, this place is a serviceable facsimile of a cool NY lounge. The service was quick, but the drinks were small and weak. At least if you are going to skimp on the quantity, give me some quality, right? The crowd did seem to be a little on the older side (30s and up), with plenty of single older ladies trying to desperately to get attention (e.g. showing way too much cleavage, especially the fake kind), but seemed not too full of themselves. If you like to dance, don't go here, the DJ sucked on the night I was there -- the music had no flow or coherence. But if you only like to dance when you've had too much to drink and suddenly think that the Pussycat Dolls are the best group ever, you've found your home. And the very fact that this place would play Pussycat Dolls tells you why it is worthy of only a limited amount of praise. UPDATE FROM JULY 14 2007: This was my third time to the place and I still cannot say what the hype is all about -- I'm cynical that way I guess. I will say that the music was much better, although the DJ was so busy showing off his mixing "skills", that he never let a song play long enough to really enjoy it: just when your head starts bobbin' to the beat, the song changes. Also, my friend was drinking a drink and set it down at our table. The overworked but overzealous busboys cleared her drink before she finished this. I pointed this out to our waitress who said "hey, sometimes that happens." No, I'm sorry, no let me fix that for you, just attitude. She did get a replacement drink after I protested loudly, but if you are paying ridiculous prices for a table, shouldn't you be treated -- even if it is make believe -- like your comfort matters? The situation at the door to get in was chaotic to say the least -- even though we did have a reservation. Why is it so hard to manage that process competently? The women did look good -- if I could have convinced one to go home with me this place would've gotten a full 5* ;)
