by Mr S. on I've always heard about the MJQ's and even rode by it a previous year but never had the opportunity to go in. Well I made it my business to finally go and it was definitely worth the experience. This is probably the most unique club in all of Atlanta. For the price, decor, location, uniqueness, crowd, niche, this is an automatic four star. This isn't your typical ring tone rapper club or booshie broads dressed up for nothing type of spot. If you are from the New York, NJ, CT (Tri-State area), you can "appreciate" (keyword: appreciate) this spot for all that it brings. Pulling up, looks like a spot they make drugs, Going down the tunnel to the club, I thought I was going to see naked women baking bricks and chopping it up. This spot on a Friday night played all my favorite tunes that I loved and appreciate growing up as a hip hop head. You don't hear official hip hop like this in 95% of Atlanta clubs nor hear it on the radio. The place isn't that big, reminds you of a Brooklyn basement party. Was feeling the music big time! 90s early 2000s hip hop with reggae, it was like HEAVEN. Please be prepared to dance, they get it in here. No standing on the wall (unless you getting grinded upon of course) and no cop out at ordering at a table and looking at the crowd. I didn't even realized there was another room tucked away in the corner near the entrance/exit. That whats up!!!! Best thing about this place is come as you are. If I don't feel like dressing up to go to Luckie, Velvet or any of those overpriced booshie fake blackhollywood clubs, I will gladly spend half admission to be comfortable at MJQs Only reason why it didn't get 5 stars because a) it is smokey in there but it comes with the territory and b) there is actually more dudes there than females. I'd say: 60:40 ratio, 65:35 men to women. Overall Grade: A-
by Maryanna Seeliger on Let me just say that I have lived near Trudy's for practically my whole life. I used to like it very much until they changed their migas... What drove me to boycott Trudy's is simple. I went there for breakfast as I had many times before and ordered the "as-you like-it" migas. I told the waiter that I wanted him to hold the cheese on my order, (this seems like a fairly routine change). He told me that they had to charge an extra $1. to NOT put cheese on the migas. ??? I'm not sure about anyone else but I have dined out a fair amount and I have never heard of such a thing. Why I asked him, are you charging extra to remove one of the items from on "as-you-like-it" migas? "Because then we have to cook it, and the migas are pre-made..." A restaurant that doesn't want to have to be bothered with "cooking" the food. The waiter continued yammering about how there was queso mixed in bla bla bla. All I could think of was some guy in the back with an ice cream scoop and a 55 gallon drum of migas creating the thousands and thousands of plates of migas they must serve. Anyway, with all the fairly priced and tasty mexican places in town why bother with useless place?
