by Brandon B. on This is the first time that I've really wished I could give 1/2 stars. Hill-Bert's doesn't deserve the lower 3 that I'm unfortunately giving it. It's a bit better than that, but not as good as the burger joints that I've rated 4 stars. Unfortunately, that means it's getting knocked back slightly. I've been to a couple of different locations, and once you've been you know what you're in for. A tasty burger for sure! But it really isn't something that has ever blown me away. The meat is good enough...but never seems to have that fresh formed and cooked taste that other places offer. The toppings always seem fresh-ish...never bad at all, but again, just ok. I'm really not a huge onion ring fan, but for some reason I was in the mood when I ate here recently. I have to say, Hill-Bert's onion rings are just about perfect! With a little more seasoning in the breading they would be right there! They're thin, but not too thin...you can still taste the onion. They're super crispy, but don't taste overdone or burnt. Just a really nice side to go with your burger. Right now, Hill-Bert's definitely makes my "Top 10 Burgers in Austin" list, but it's closer to the middle than the top. Definitely worth a regular stop, but I've found others that I like much more.
by Elisha Redondo on I have to admit, it's a cool spot. Except when there's a secret christmas party and toy drive and you didn't bring a toy so you can't get in. It just has a nice feel -- It's clean and fresh so you don't feel like you're moving around in filth. Generally speaking, the upstairs has reggaeton/hip hop and downstairs has more techno. More people go upstairs.
