by Yolanda Roepke on Already quickly declining from its recent resurgence, The Roosevelt Hotel was once the stuff of Hollywood dreams, then spent many years decaying before party promoter extraordinaire Amanda Scheer Demme revived it to a hip Hollywood party spot a few years ago. I was lucky enough to frequent it with the likes of yesterday's biggest party girls and it was truly a debaucherous fantasy. The stone interior with heavy curtains and barely-there lighting was the perfect setting to nights of endless drinks and discreet underage drug use. Since her forced departure and the rise of the Bolthouse Production's club dominated age, the place has chilled considerably. The doormen don't seem to know that it's not Hollywood's most highly regarded club in town, but it's still a schmoozy and hoity toity place to visit. Regardless, no one can deny that the place has history and a classy aesthetic. I've been a few times recently and have stayed for a drink or two, but ultimately found it eh. I give it three stars as a nod to the good ole' times I've had in the past.
by sarah e. on I agree with the cheesy - given the costumes of the people who work here. But, they make good drinks and the food was decent. Good place to people watch and just sit around basking in the Miami-ness.
