by Audrie Bushong on The outside looks a bit Scandinavian lodge, but when you hit those stairs only to discover a vibrant nightclub lurking beneath street level, it's nothing but pure cool. I used to come here a lot in the 1990s when Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers were a house mainstay, and every time I return now, that same magic is still in the air. if there's a headliner you're really into, do yourself a favor and reserve a table and do it right. Oh, and invite me along.

Five stars only because I have seen some of the best DJs in the world play there and have gotten to know over a half-dozen doormen that have come and go over the years, with all being stand-up guys. Not to mention, the night the Sox beat the Yanks in '04, as well as a week later when they swept the Cards, I was there, celebrating with a lot of people that became friends!
