by German Gribble on Nice little dive bar with no long "Hollywood" lines to get in. Parking can be tricky along the street, so take advantage of the valet parking....don't worry, the valets are really cool. So about this place....Non-pretentious but hip is a good way to describe it. You get a nice mix of house music and hip-hop in two separate rooms. The place has a simple but eclectic decor, dimly lit as you walk in, with private cubby rooms with comfy couches that remind you of some Moroccan hideaway. Drinks are surprisingly inexpensive and strong, cool bartenders and friendly staff...even the bouncer up front is human, and not some steroid induced moron on a power trip. The crowd is young, hip, and beautiful...good mix of personalities. Dance your night away or just chill to some funky beats. Great vibe all around. ...and an added bonus, there's a Mexican lady with her bacon dog cart right outside the club! You know you want one!
by Harry H. on An absolute must go to bar before you head out anywhere else. This uber hip spot is a chic destination for any socially conscious chicano/a who loves cleverly named drinks. I mean who can turn down a pink puto? My favorite would be Frida's Brow! The decor is one of a kind and the two screen up top showing old Elvis movies and old mexican horror flicks or on the rare occasion an old "El Santo" movie. I just love how it all works out in there. Oh and don't worry about the short bartenders... the bar is just lowered. Drinks are fairly priced but I recommend you try all the specialties and check the amazing tequila selection! A must before you head elsewhere!
