Summary: Zahav is a great place, for a great meal, at a great price. On to the good stuff. The staff here is extremely accommodating and our waiter was a really friendly guy who helped guide us through the meal. We ended up going with the Ta'yim, shared everything we ordered, and started our meal off with some just awesome Hummus- flavor filled with a great creamy texture. From the milk dishes, the highlight was definitely the Crispy Haloumi which had an almost desert-like quality to it. The Fried Cauliflower was also great- really flavorful despite the unassuming concept. We also had the Borekas, which were fine, but were overshadowed by the other two dishes. From the Raw/Cured and Meats we got the Kibbe Naya, Basturma, Veal Pastilla, and Jerusalem Grill. Everything was fantastic. My favorite was the air-cured Basturma, which was absolutely delicious and many of the table's favorite dish for the night. The Jerusalem Grill was fun, with the heart being the best from what you get. The Kibbe Naya was also great. You can't go wrong with any of these. The next course brought my highlight for the meal- the lamb Merguez sausages. These were cooked perfectly with an awesome spicy taste and reminded me of the fresh sausage I used to get from my grandparent's farm. I would definitely recommend ordering this if you're forced to pick only one thing from this section. I also really enjoyed the Sabra and Farsi, with my friend claiming the tenderloin was the best he had in his life. We also got the Jaffa and I lucked out and got some of the skin, which was perfectly crisp. We got all the deserts and they were all excellent. My only complaint is that we didn't get through every dish on the menu, but that means I have a great excuse to go back. Zahav completely blew away my lofty expectations and I hope to return soon.

I wish like hell that they served food here. With the way the venue is setup, it would be an awesome location for dinner and a show. I found that ordering a bottle of wine is a better choice than going with their regular drinks. ------------------ edit from an experience on 4/28/2008: I most recently came for a performance on a monday night. We wound up sitting at a table with 2 other couples. One of the couples had ordered pasta and a few beers. Well, they brought out a cold pizza. When the guy complained to the waitress, she apologized and said she would give them two beers on the house. It was all a polite exchange, no raised voices or anything. A few minutes later, a manager came out with the waitress in tow. He accused the man at our table of yelling at the waitress (and she was standing behind him mortified and saying that there was no yelling). The manager took the cold pizza, asked if they wanted anything else, and when was told no. The manager then told the couple that they weren't getting any more service that evening. The manager then asked the rest of us if we were with the other couple. After responding no, we were told that we could get service. Then he left. A few minutes later, he came back, gave the couple their money back (minus the waitress's tip), and took the additional beers from the table. This manager was way over the line. He was rude, he made the whole place uncomfortable, and he acted pre-meditated. He came out with a chip on his shoulder and made it known. Then, when it wasn't enough, he *came back* to do more damage. After that, that waitress wasn't to be seen anywhere. We managed to flag down another waitress and ask what happened. The story she gave was that the first waitress's grandfather died and she had to leave. bull-freaking-crap
