So I've been here twice on Fri and Sat so I this is a legit 411. The only reason why this place has such a low rating is because of the management's stupid decision to charge an auto gratuity on credit cards. The solution: bring cash. Drinks are hella strong. Typical Hwood prices. Ask for Craig. He hooks it up. Logistics. Get on the gueslist. They actually honor it. W/ guestlist it's free for the ladies and $15 for the guys. Got there are 10:10 and waited for 40 minutes to get in. Ended up leaving early after midnight on Saturday and there was no line. This place gets 4/5 stars because there's a huge dance floor. Music gets 7.5/10. I like how not everyone and their mom's come here so there's plenty of space to dance. I hope this place doesn't start getting popular.... It was an Asian crowd both nights. A few FOBs. It felt a bit like SF with plenty of flips and a few vietnamese peeps. Girl to guy ration was 1:3 both nights. Girls were decent looking on Saturday. Friday not so much. Friday is much slower than Saturday. Guessing all the asian peeps are at Opera on Friday's. Valet is $20. If you park 2 blocks down on Orange where Madame Tuossods is at it'll cost $10 for the valet. Will definitely be back.

While this used to be primarily an afterhours spot, there have been some really good regular hours parties there recently. I went for Kontrol last month, and will be going again this weekend. The sound system is easily the best in the city, the bass is nice and tight, and the low ceiling keeps echo to a minimum. The venue itself is very cozy, and has a fantastic patio for cooling off/hanging out. The dancefloor is perfect, not too big, not too small. Overall, I am glad to see some more accessible parties being thrown (not just circuit parties etc) and look forward to more good times there. Bonus: it's one of the few clubs in the city with in/out priveleges. You can head over early, get in for free, get stamped, and then come back later in the night after hitting bars or whatever. PS: The idiots below rating it one star are full of shit. How do you get a staph infection from a club? What the hell were you doing in there? Bottom line is, you have to know which parties are the ones with "your crowd" or you're not going to have a good time anywhere. Do your homework before checking out a spot, as the crowd can vary VASTLY from night to night.
