by Wayne Maiorano on I've been to Sloane two different times, once for a large birthday with bottle service and last night, and both times were pretty lame. The first time wasn't that bad since we had bottle service, but then there was some problems when the host girl took some bottles that were still full and the owners called BS and just told the Birthday girls they were drunk or some shit. Also just because you have bottle service doesn't mean they will let you in right away. We had to stand outside for a bit so it looked busy inside when the entire birthday group made up more then 2/3 of every inside the whole night. Last night was pretty lame we ended up leaving after one drink. Again they like to keep people waiting outside, and when we finally did reach the front they couldn't find our names on the guest-list. Our friends had mixed results of them finding their names on the guest-list, some got in for free, others girls had to pay $5 and guys had to pay $10 or some girls got two for 1 price. When we got to the front they couldn't find our names of course, and they guy charged me and my girlfriend $10 each as well as our other friend. He wouldn't even do $5 for girls. Inside drinks are aren't that bad and the bartenders are pretty good. The overall crowd ranges from mostly Asians to ghetto fab it seems. The bar is beautiful, but the space is tiny as the "dance floor" or the tiny space next to the bar can hold maybe 20people if that. Everyone is pretty much standing around as it's too crowded to dance. 1 star for a beautiful bar and easy parking
by Jessica R. on Location, location, location! For this alone, I recommend one and all go to go the frying pan! Your on a boat that's a freaking bar! It doesn't get better than that! The views are fantastic, and you can't ask for more on a nice warm day, sitting on the hudson, getting drunk, and even watching the helicopters going in and out from the 34th Street Heliport. It is quite a walk to get there from the trains, but once you get there you forget about all that. I'm not one to usually comment on people around me, simply because I don't really care as long as I'm having a good time, but it is a little Wall-Streetesque. I happened to go on the Friday right before Labor Day weekend, so it was a mixed crowd as we were all trying to start the weekend the right way...DRUNK! Towards the end of the night there was a DJ, the music wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. There wasn't much dancing, and by 11pm the place sort of died down. I would recomment this for happy hour and just a good time with friends. Everyone you bring will think you find a hidden gem in the city. One more time...BAR ON A BOAT! Fantastic! 4 stars because I ordered the Sangria, $37 for a pitcher?! Whoa there! But if you're a beer drinker, the prices are just fine. I'm more of a wine, mixed drink, shots kind of gal, so my wallet was hurting! Also 4 stars, because getting a table is near impossible! We all split up and starting attacking any table with movement until we finally got a table. Other than that, good times!
