There isn't much to say that hasn't been said before when you talk about the Clermont. When I lived in Atlanta it was a place that I brought all out of town visitors. The response is always the same... they stop right after walking in and wonder what in the F just happened. Tip well, be cool, enjoy.

very nice inside. however, everyone working there besides the man saying goodbye was bitter. 1. Bartender - Of the 3 bartenders I ordered drinks from: The first bartender was a white male who poured me a macallan 12 year on the rocks. Only it was all rocks, barely any whiskey, so i left the bar looking like I was almost done with my drink. The second time around, I decided to order cheaper whiskey in case the same thing happened. I ordered a Jack Daniels, neat (no rocks). Either the glasses are really big or they just don't know how to pour a full drink. The third time around after giving me a spiel about how the house wont allow him to pour a little more alcohol in a drink (keep in mind this is considered a classier place, which typically means they treat customers well while charging them $10 for a shot of Jack), I was a bit irritated. The multiple bouncers tapping you, reminding you to keep walking and not stand in groups with your friends does not add to the experience. I had heard good things about this place (before I was 21) from older friends who would go there on Wednesday nights. Wonder what happened. Music was good though. Crowd very mixed. Saw Some people in their 20s - 60s. This is probably because it's in a hotel where tourists stay and it's a convenient place to go dancing.

I've been to the many times to get my dance on and once for Lucha Va Voom. Although it could end up being an expensive outing after you factor in the parking, cover and drinks it's well worth it because the Mayan has three different "rooms". The main room features a DJ and Salsa band. If you're more of the hip hop persuasion head downstairs and if that doesn't cut it and you need some old school (Stevie B, BBD, New Edition) head upstairs. What I really like about the Mayan is that there are plenty of random side patios for smokers or those of us that get claustrophobic and need air. The Mayan also has a grip of seating so when you're feet are done for the night (because you just HAD TO wear the new stilettos that pinch) you can head upstairs and lounge while still enjoying the music.
