by Keith Corpus on This place surprised me as I was waiting for Anchor Room to open next door, I popped in for a couple pints and some tv on the tv. They do have food, there are tables alongside the left and one larger table in the back by the kitchen. The bartenders here have a lot of fun themselves, it was nice to see. The Irish lass was incredibly pretty. The crowd was basically a couple groups of girls and younger folk, mixed with the regular crowd of older sportsmen, one of whom I think was the owner, because he was drinking like no tomorrow and kept cheering on Yao Ming on the telly. "YEAH YAO, YAO MING........OH COME ON......YAO!!!!!" loved it. My biggest problem with the place however, was that the music was LAME. well maybe not lame, just a bit pedestrian, suburban, a little too suburban. Case in point, Dave Matthews Band. Do you ever hear it in bars in the city? No. What did I hear last night? "Crush". If I wanted to wear a hemp necklace with my Grateful Dead tie dye, sandals, cargo shorts, ruffled baseball cap, slightly unkempt blonde hair, etc. etc., I'd go upstate. Some more songs: Journey of course, plus Don Maclean, I mean the list of just heartbreakers just kept going. They piled on the cliches like bats pile dung in caves.
