This place was a good place to start the night. Bigger than it looks from the outside and we had free passes so no cover for my friends and I. We walked in to bartenders clad in skin-tight clothes dancing on the bar - cool. Some guys bought drinks for us -- even better. Three different dance floors playing different music -- yay for more choices. But while the first hour was fun, it was time to move on after that.

I saw a show here about 3 weekends ago and the act sucked. There is a very, very fine line between innovative, "out-of-the-box" musician and talentless white-boy rapper. Anyways, I think this show was a perfect testament to how rad this venue is. The show sucked, but I still found myself saying the next day, "I would go see anyone and anything at The Great American Music Hall." The acoustics were solid, bartenders and bouncers were cool, its cozy and intimate - yet accomodating enough for bigger acts as well as smaller indie's. I like to think of it as Fillmore Jr. or maybe the Fillmore's cooler little brother. Either way, the O'Farrell Theatre is right there...Always a good time.
