Beautiful people and drinks, entertaining... fun... and for now, it is "the club" that all of those on the make seem to be heading to... If you're not really beautiful or connected, you're best to wait for some of the hype to die down before giving it a try.
by Minna Ritrovato on This place sticks out like a sore thumb, and not in a good way. We walked in here that night (only because of the drink specials) and this place is dead. The staff outnumbered the patrons that night. While the bartenders waited for people they served, they practiced their cheesy bottle flips (if it makes my drinks stronger or taste better then I am all for it, but it doesn't so cut it out; this is not Vegas and the people on 6th Street could care less). The booths are pretty dreadful. Blue and white booths seemed pretty cheap looking and nothing inside of the booth resembled anything associated with VIP status. The music, well it sucked frankly. The DJ butchered every song in an attempt to create his rendition/remix to get noticed (you got my attention, I just wish I had earplugs that night). This Vegas wannabe club is going to struggle surviving on 6th Street. It's unique, I'll give them that, but I just don't see it surviving too long. The only resemblance this place has with the Pure nightclub in Vegas is the high level of douchbaggery that plagues this place. Sure, you'll cater to a niche crowd, but one thing I noticed while I was out in Austin for 5 days is that the laid back people of Austin have good taste and just like to have fun. When I approached a couple of hip female Austin-ites about bar crawls in downtown Austin, they told me this is the type of place that would get skipped by them and their friends. Also, this is one of the places featured on VH1's The Pickup Artist... enough said : (
