The drinks are overpriced at Medjool but you're really just paying a service fee for the view. LOVE the rooftop view.....especially on those rare clear SF nights. As for the music and dance floor....they're "meh". My advice, bring cash and go to the rooftop--especially during late September when the weather is warmer :) Salut!

I really loved the juxtaposition of industrial exterior and dark and swanky interior. Swanky, Asian-style, that is. The big Buddha didn't even pop out at me until I'd been there for an hour. It's pretty dark. Anyhoo, I was very lucky and got a last-minute reservation through a New York-based acquaintance. My friends were running late so I waited for them in the dark bar, feeling very va va voom in my strapless black dress. Service sucked in the bar. I was left unattended and ignored (curse of the single woman who is less than spectacular looking). Later when we were all seated, the bar maitre d' came to the table to let me know that I HAD to close out my bar tab. Which I would have done had I been properly serviced whilst in the bar. Also, someone slopped water on our table, and I had to wipe it up myself. So far, not so good. But, our waitress was helpful; had visited friends at Stanford so we had a point of connection. My meal was wonderful: Malaysia spice encrusted filet mignon. My dessert was wonderful, although tiny: chocolate cake. The bill was astronomical, but I didn't pay so I won't complain. 3 soft drinks, 2 appetizers (frog legs were "eh," but the Buddha Bar Roll was tasty), 3 entrees, 2 desserts, tax and tip: $250.00. Crazy, no? When we stepped outside, there was a hubbub with drunken girls and security officers, but my friend, Rupert, thought is was a sham and that the men were hired to foster a scene with the chippies.
