This is exactly what a neighborhood bar should be. I go here often (I live just up the street) and always feel welcome and always meet new people from the 'hood. Smallish beer and wine selection, but they've got something for every taste. Great occasional live music and DJ's. Love this place!

My husband and I are off on our little 36 hour escape from our toddler to Philadelphia and he's already fallen into the trap: when in Philly, you have to order a cheesesteak. UGH. He's already looked it up and is convinced that we should go to Geno's instead of Pat's (I hear there are other places to go, but that's a different story.). This establishment looks more like a carnival sideshow than a legitimate place that serves food. On top of it all, there's this racist placard at the counter that says something about customers should only speak English to them. Now, the sandwiches: they were good but mine gave me heartburn and a tummyache. My husband unwisely decided to put hot sauce on his and it was so hot that it was almost uneatable. On the whole, the experience was completely substandard. Boy, but that racist placard really tempted me to speak Chinese. What the hell is that BS about?! As far as I can tell, it's Spanish and Chinese speaking men and women who generally are the backbone of the restaurant industry.
