by Elise A. on Douchebag central? if ever there was a place too cool for its own good thy name would be The Standard Hotel. The only saving grace MIGHT be the delicious, unpretentious beer garden. Dear "Top of The Hotel"(can you even use quotations here???) bouncers, You still are not cool and everyone remembers when you peed your pants in high school. Plus the horrendous case of acne that still remains on your pockmarked face. FYI - I thought New York was supposed to be "original" but somehow you have managed to be more "trendy" (and all the negative connotations intended) than your counterpart in LA.. Situated next to a former nightclub and modeling agency which are long gone, Slice offers a relaxed, airy and open space to grab lunch or dinner in the heart of downtown. The food is, well, nothing special other than your typical pizza and pasta joint. The pizzas are a safe bet, my pasta was pathetic - about as good as I remember from my junior high cafeteria. For a quick bit of pizza, coke, in a nice, somewhat hidden space downtown with a smaller lunch crowd, go here.
