The major reason I am giving Avalon (I can't stop calling it The Palace, but that's because I'm old) such a favorable review is because they have something that most venues don't have anymore. That sacred "something extra" that really makes a live music experience for someone like me. SOMEWHERE TO SIT DOWN! The place to sit has become increasingly rare these days. Why, I remember when I used to go to clubs that had couches everywhere and, should you feel a little worn out or tired, why, you could just sit down. Right there on the couch! Now a days you have to pay $300 for a $20 bottle of vodka and the privilege of sitting on that couch. Want to sit on a chair? Costs money. Want a clean patch of floor? Costs money. The free place to rest your tired bones has gone the way of dinosaurs and 8-tracks. Imagine my surprise when we walked into Avalon and I saw seating aplenty. I thought for sure I was going to have to cough up $7,000 for a few plastic cups of booze if I wanted to actually sit down, and I was already planning my elbowing strategy for the mosh pit, when I realized...NO! I CAN SIT DOWN! FOR FREE! It was heavenly. Thank you, Avalon. Thank you for allowing me to rest my old bones and enjoy Strung Out in comfort.
by Kevin S. on Its a great hip hop club. The cover's a little steep though and i really can't stand that they make you wait in line for no reason. But, I always have fun there so i guess i can't really complain.
