by Kirby Rayne on Don't know why the ratings are so bad for this place but I came here last weekend for my friend's bday party and I really liked it. I got VIP entrance since we had dinner here, and the food wasn't bad at all. I mean it's no fancy dinner , but the food that we ordered were all pretty good: +appetizer plate: fried egg rolls, fried wontons, chinese buns, potstickers +salad +thai style noodles +sliders These are the ones I remember to be pretty good. Ambiance wise, I really like this place. The red/black really does it for me. very clean and nice looking. Bar service isn't too bad either, the wait isn't too long. Music is decent, would definitely come back for another party =)
by Boris Deshields on I actually flew to LA from SF just to see Andy Compton of The Rurals at one of the DEEP nights here. I got the sense that the DEEP nights at Vanguard are probably the best house scene in LA. It was a pretty chill scene and way less douchey than I expected (although I imagine this place is painful on Friday and Saturday nights). The highlight of the night: being charged $5 for a bottled water. Needless to say, I didn't tip. I've heard of smuggling in alcohol to clubs but at Vanguard you better smuggle in some water too.
