by Layla G. on Very cool, modern decor. Great bartenders, love the management and the bouncers - this is a shout out to Mikey! :) But, I can not STAND the music. And, I can't figure out why I still go. Maybe because it is right next to Cypress - the convenient alternative? Because I know a few people there? Because I happen to run into some of the same regulars? Nah, I think its because I am always drunk. Call me the lemon drop connoisseur. And Halo has undoubtedly the WORST lemon drop shot I have ever had in my life. To the point that I thought the bartender was actually trying to poison me. Regardless, whatever it is that draws me there (on a regular basis) - only manages to keep me there long enough to make my rounds of hello and kisses before I have to bail because the DJ insists on playing purely techno. So, why three stars? Guilt, pure GUILT. These are cool people. Halo, not so much.
by Nam Beckham on What can I say? Shine is the best!!! I usually frequent this place about once a month for Fix, but is worth stopping by on any evening when you have nothing better to do. There is *always* fun to be had at Shine! I have had a blast there even when it is not packed full of peeps. The owners rock it. Very good folk and great hosts. Fun photo booth (which is free- they post your photo booth photos online using Flickr). The bathrooms are very luxurious, better than my dinky apartment! And of course they have awesome taste in DJs. Very good music when they have it. Stop by Shine! It is worth the teeny cover (which only happen on certain weekend nights and is soo sooooooo worth it) and get a drink. I promise, you will not leave this place without making at least one cool, hip, down to earth, trendy, fun friend. Maybe even ME! Trust me. Shine rocks!
