by Shay F. on I've only been to Roe for the nightlife/club scene, and it was ... ok. I went to Roe for a friend's going away party, and they charge cover after 10:30. My friend made a guestlist of names, so we arrived fairly early so we wouldn't have to pay cover. We ended up waiting a ridiculous amount of time. The doorman looking at the guestlist was also, in short, a prick. And I say that as nicely as possible. Well, no, not really, but whatever. I guess if I were a doorman having to comb through a guestlist every weekend (one that is practically moot because they don't let people in late ANYWAY), I might hate my life too and project it on others. And, you know, if I were a prick. But anyway.... I discovered that there are actually THREE floors to the place (amazing!) but the bottom floor ended up play really weird electronic type music. The top floor was obnoxiously crowded at times, but that was probably because the music was a lot more tolerable (though the DJs liked to throw in a few random things as well). The drink prices seemed fairly normal (sad that I consider expensive prices for drinks normal now) and nothing was particularly fabulous about the place, but it wasn't bad either. I don't know if I would recommend it to anybody, but I would probably go back again if there was another shindig held in a friend's honor.
