by Lily T. on The venue is trendy, and I love the concept behind the lounge. I believe they offer free valet parking if you drive a hybrid. There's one major turn-off: automatic gratuity. Anywhere else, the standard for tipping is $1 per drink, but Ecco will force 20% down your throat. Also, if you want to plan your next birthday here, make sure you keep in contact with the same promoter, because they can arbitrarily change the quote of the bottles on you any moment, and there ain't nothing you can do about it 'cos they're holding onto your balls. Eco-friendly, sure; wallet-friendly, hell no! It's a different kind of green.
by Richie Forts on Tonight a few friends and I went to Bimbo's to see M.Ward play and I was surprised by how classy this venue was. It reminded me of some speakeasy straight out of a Fitzgerald story and the atmosphere was great. The sound wasn't amazing and the food sucked ($6 for a food court quality hot dog), but the service was awesome and even the security was friendly. I recommend getting there a little early so you can snag a table on one of the elevated platforms, so you can have a seat but still see the stage over everyone's head. It would be a great place to take a date, hear some music, and cut a rug on their spacious dance floor.
