by Kristin S. on Whoever designed and decorated this bar deserves to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Seriously. This massive restaurant/bar/club/lounge (choose a genre!) is gorgeous and oh-so posh looking. Of course, being in the heart of Meatpacking District means that you wait in line at LEAST 1 minutes to get inside but that's to be expected. The drinks are a bit on the pricey side, but is that surprising either? Nope. I had a good time going to a friend's birthday party there, though I couldn't really get a good sense of the type of crowd there. Posh? Hipster? Dance party? I have no clue. I'm pretty sure I would want to try this place again, this time armed with the knowledge that I would have to get there a tadddd bit earlier and beat the insanely long lines that hit around midnight. Lone lines + cold weather = oh hell no.
by Glady Spinar on Was in town for a wedding with little funds and no patience for waiting in line, so Sunday night at Hiro, with no line or no cover - perfect. Everyone was nice. I love that. Makes a bumpkin from Texas like me just want to mack on the big island of Manhattan big time major city. Inside was beyond beautiful, the Smokin' McHottie bartenders were a blast to talk to and let me smoke inside (thanks, guys!) and the music was pumpin pumpin pumpin and there were no bridge-and-tunnel (minus my beloved Brooklyn peeps) fools trying to get all Patrick Swayze an' shit... I scored SO WELL here (I love it when they don't know how out my league they really are...low self esteem RULES!) I will probably never go back so as not to ruin the memory. (sigh) If you're looking to get your swerve on OR a night of no expectations and shakin' it, Hiro is it.
