by Erik Jannell on I went here so often for Sue Dred's Saturday soulful house nights that I made myself sick of this place (the place didn't change, I did). It's dark, chill, drama-free and has a great underground feel. Different nights bring in different events, musical genres, and DJs. Basic Friday nights are good, too. The bar tenders are cool and the drinks are decent. It's not very big and can get crowded and hot. You can snag a booth if you get there early enough. The cover charge is usually never over $15 and you definitely get your money's worth.
by Euge C. on Tears of joy. The brisket is so tender, it's unearthly. You cannot find a tough piece in the whole sandwich. The sauce is so tangy, less sweet and oh so tasty. No KC Masterpiece here, thank you. I also had the brisket tacos. This is Tex-Mex at it's best. The combination of the same brisket with slaw and a green chile sauce gave me a truly new flavor combination I won't soon forget. I was in the airport. I wiped my mouth again and leaned back in my chair. I contemplated running outside and never leaving Austin or Salt Lick again. I'll return, my dear. I promise.
