Once you step inside these doors, you feel the air of downtown Austin...but so much more! The food here is absolutely delicious and made to order and it is very comparable to Eddy V's. The staff is courteous and eager to satisfy your needs but, at the same time, they give you room to enjoy your company. I read a review that stated 'it is a great addition to Allandale" and, while I understand that, it isn't just a great addition to Allandale but to Austin. Austin needed a unique and spectacular place like this...totally different...totally noteworthy. The owners take pride in what they serve and how it is served -- the presentation of the dishes is amazing. I have high standards when it comes to where and what I eat and this is one of my places now. If you're the type of person that totally enjoys those fast-food type restaurants, then you wouldn't enjoy this place because this food is on a completely different scale than most of "those" restaurants. Their appetizers alone can satisfy a hearty appetite but who wants to stop there....and, by the way, they really should raise their prices on the appetizers because the amount of delicious food they serve is heaping at best (and I can say this because the food is that good!). That's all, for now... :)

This is the first at Morimoto and throughly enjoyed it. I must have stayed almost 3 hours eating and drinking various bottles of sake. All the carpaccio's are to die for! But the kobe carpaccio is the best. My friends and I actually ordered 2 servings of the kobe throughout the night. We had an excellent waiter named Albert who had a splendid demeanor and good taste in food. I tried a sake another waiter recommend and I didn't like it so Albert took it back then brought out 3 different sake' for me to try before making my choice. The best place to sit is at the sushi bar, which is where I sat. I like to watch the chef's create food and it is always nice to speak with them as they are working. Seating at the tables or booths is just too boring and cold. This is much more life and fun at the sushi bar, plus I think you get served faster. I actually started dinner right when they opened so it was pretty empty. By the time I left the place was packed. For a special treat, you can reserve a private table downstairs. If only I lived in Philly or near it, I go to Morimoto at least twice a month. It is just that damn good!
