by Cara S. on The hummus here is the best hummus I have ever had... and I've been to both Israel and Greece! It's the perfect consistency and doesn't taste too bitter or too sweet. Plus the flatbread they give you for dipping is also delicious. If you're looking for a place that has unique tastes and gives you a friendly, ethnic (middle eastern) dining atmosphere, you MUST go to Zahav. I went during restaurant week and we got lots of food for a great price, but I'd go here anytime I have friends in town that I want to impress, or if I'm looking to splurge on something tasty before seeing a movie at the Ritz East. Two things you must eat - * the appetizer sampler (not sure what it's called on the menu) because it is full of amazing little salads made with several delicious ingredients like beets, cucumbers, peppers, and more. * the fried cauliflower because it tastes like a french fry and the sauce they garnish it with is amazing The rest all depends on what you're in the mood for - there's a lot of variety on the menu. And it's served tapas-style with small portions, so you can share things and not limit yourself to one meal. All in all this is a GREAT place, and I'm glad Philadelphia magazine recognized that!
