I felt like I was back in high school when we walked in here It reminded me of 18 and over clubs (I had a fake ID) we used to go to that didn't quite know what they wanted to be We came for Depeche Mode Night when DNA is host to New Wave City The music was GREAT the club mediocre It looked like it was trying on a goth costume that didnt quite fit It was too light, and too light with harsh greenish bulbs and black light It was cavernous although I imagine its great to see a show here although i wasnt a big fan of the layout or the crowd it still was OK

Hyeon J and I were heading to Souper Jenny originally, but it was too late.  Souper Jenny closed for the day!  But we were too hungry and we needed a quick fix.  So we stepped into Genki - since it's in the neighborhood. We ordered the Cheese Kari Kari as the appetizer.  This was so good: Creamy and cheesy.  You cannot go wrong with fried food, I guess?  If we ended our meal at the appetizer, then Genki would've received five stars, no doubt.  However, we were hungry and we ordered more.  I ordered the Mixed Vegetable Don-Style as my entree.  I didn't like my dish too much.  Usually, I love vegetables, but these, I just couldn't tolerate.  Too big in size and partially uncooked, I ended up not finishing my plate.  We also ordered some nigiri - tuna, eel, and egg cutlet.  Once again, nothing special.  I didn't think it was that fresh either. Among all the Japanese/Sushi restaurants I've dined in, Genki is the first restaurant that wasn't ran by an Asian.  In fact, I didn't see any Asian employees when I was there.  I think we were the only Asians in the whole restaurant, as a matter of fact.  I felt so out of place.  But wait, this is a Japanese restaurant; I'm supposed to feel like "Honey, I'm home!"  This is not to say, however, that their service was rude.  My waiter provided one of the best services I've gotten in a while.
