by Maren P. on Getting a reservation at Supperclub was indeed a challenge - the website is buggy and they don't keep the dates/events updated so it took 2 failed attempts before we finally got confirmation for a reservation on a date that we were available. They were quite nice about the confusion and gave us the original price even though the night we went was advertised as a higher price. Here's how Supperclub works... You walk in, check in with the host, are assigned a table number and enter a circular anteroom / bar area where you are told to have a drink and wait to be taken into the main room. It's nice to have a drink beforehand, but it is important to note that they are extra on top of the dinner price. And, the drinks are in the $10-14 range. The bartenders were quite nice and the drinks were tasty. After about 20 minutes, the host came to get us to show us to our "table". Imagine a large, all-white room with a DJ and small dance floor mid center, the perimeter consisting of mini raised "platforms" that are covered with white mattresses and mini coffee tables. To the side, an open staircase leading up to a wrap around balcony that overlooks the room. Each table is essentially a double-sized bed. I'd estimate about 50 people were there. The evening then consists of a series of floor shows (opera, sword fighting, juggling, acrobatics) intermingled with a 4 course dinner. All while you're lying in bed. Appetizer was a root vegetable salad, followed by a crabcake, then Kobe beef as the main course and a decadent and gooey chocolate cake with banana ice cream for dessert. The food was absolutely excellent - the portions big. The pace at which it was served was good; however, I could have used about 10 minutes more between each course. At the end of the meal, most everyone ends up on the dance floor until about 10.30pm when they open the club to everyone, and you're suddenly overwhelmed by 100's of people who have come to dance. The DJ was pretty good - mostly playing popular dance/hiphop stuff like Madonna/Kanye/FloRida, etc. It would have been nice if they'd kept it private til 11pm so we could have hung out in a more relaxed environment. In the end, the drinks ended up being more the meal! But, overall it was great, a lot of fun, and I'd definitely go back. An unusual experience, definitely worth checking out at least one time.
by Hermina Singharath on Went here on a Friday night when it was a nightclub. Deejay was surprisingly good, tasteful mixing of hip-hop. Everyone is ridiculously Asian. General age was about 21-26 with a few outliers. Good male-to-female ratio, but not exactly the place for the most intelligent of conversations nor company. Many of the girls I found were relatively new to America or just visiting. Drinks were rather over-priced; expect about $1,000+ for a booth with cheap champagne/rum/juice etc. Much easier to get in if you "know someone."
