by Sandy Mayon on Good concept... cheesy execution. When I heard of a place the was carnival themed, my imagination went wild... Only to be sorely disappointed. It is totally overpriced (shocker), the "acts" are kind of disjointed, and just all together feel of the place is just awkward. The one redeeming aspect for me was the drag-queen dominatrix, who makes dirty balloon "animals". She was awesome!

I've been clubbing in this part of town when most of my facial hairs were non existent and the best club was Mars.....!!! Real NYers know! Roots is a really cool party...everybody is here for the music....common Louie Vega on the one's and two's...on any given night dead plants come to life in this place...nothing but groovy music!!! I've caught most of my faivorite dj's in here from The "S" man to Ben Watt... Carl Cox recently... Chus & Ceballos...Dylan Drazen...Dennis Ferrer...Marques Wyatt...Motorcitysoul... cant forget Willy Graeff to any good to great dj you can think of!!! The bar staff here is the most pro in NYC in my oppinion...especially the cutie with the bk tat and the dude with the beard! I really can't believe they are frisking people now? Things and times are changing...but I don't think that the best club in NYC is...
by Chase C. on This is a great place to meet a friend for a drink early in the evening, before the pretentiousness sets in. You can't avoid it entirely, though, because the bartenders themselves exude it. Blaske's used to be hoity-toity, then it got more laid back. they sold & remodeled, & now it's circuit boy time again. Go for some eye candy, if you can stand being around some seriously stuck-up queens. The drinks are strong - I guess that's something nice to say. If you sit by the sidewalk side, you have a great perch for people-watching. The televisions are usually playing videos to match the music, which is good. There's a lot of dark wood & low lighting, so you feel a little sexy just by walking in.
