I feel like I'm getting too old for the clubbing scene, just find me a chill house party instead ugh! Be sure to get on the list and show up before 10:30 pm to get in for free. Our group was on the list but there were still issues... some people in our party arrived earlier, so when the second half of the group tried to get in the doorman was like 'sorry this name has already been used' it was completely useless trying to explain the situation to him he kept repeating 'you have to give me a name on the list' whargh we just did!!! so we ended up calling the people already inside to find out another name that was on the list so we can just get in. By the time we sorted everything out we had to pay the $20 cover =T. The patio area is nice decorated with fountains and outdoor fireplaces, good place to eat your free tacos and chocolate dipped strawberries (though technically not free because of cover)! Tacos were the street taco kind, you had a choice of chicken, pork and beef with toppings and two kinds of hot sauce! =) The berries provided were giant and sweet, but they won't let you dip them in chocolate yourself because of the liability of burning yourself accidentally. Getting food made the earlier headache of getting in better. Inside is the main stage and dance area, all night they had dancers performing so most people were watching the dancers and not dancing themselves. It was hard to get your dance on when the DJ keeps switching the songs after playing only 1 minute of it! Also what's up with the dancers?! The female dancers looked amazing in their bootylicious outfits, while I am surprised that the guys show up on stage in sweats and baggy t-shirts... seriously!? Dudes take a hint from the females dress to impress, sure you have the moves but if this venue is trying to pull off the classy vibe don't entertain in your gym clothes! At the end of the night I was totally disenchanted, most of the patrons probably come here thinking that are hot shit coming to a 'classy' club while they know shit about class. They end up putting the ASS in Class *sigh* One woman was so drunk she fell into a bunch of people and ended up sprawled on the dance floor, then a fight erupted immediately afterwards started by the people who got pushed... oy vey our group left the club when we saw this going down and vowed never to come back.

One of the advantages of Atlanta's sprawling infrastructure is the ability to put together a club the size of Compound. Pulling off such an over-sized club in most other cities would be cost prohibitive due to real estate costs, or else be forced so far out into the 'hood that you'd be afraid to go there. A night at Compound won't be cheap, but it's cheap in comparison to similar scenes in other major cities. You're paying for the atmosphere more than anything else. It's young, crowded, and definitely about being seen as well as having a good time. Parking in the pay lots closest to the club will add another ten to twelve bucks to your evening. That being said, if the immediate streets around the club are full you're better off sucking it up and paying than parking too far away. The neighborhood has definitely improved a lot over the last five years, but it's still got its rough edges to deal with now and then.
