by Melvina Filsinger on I LOVED this place. The milkshakes were fantastic (we had krispy creme and pistachio) and burgers were lovely. While the concept of a boutique burger is a little strange, all doubts were cast away when I saw the prices and the variety. I also loved that the waiter let us split our milkshakes in half (and priced at half) since we were all so full but really wanted to try them anyway. The whole experience was great, and really easy going. And, there were words like "sous vide" and "foam" on the menu, which made me feel fancy without being a big spender. The zucchini fries were really good, and I loved the steak tartare burger.
by Oretha Smoke on We were on the guestlist and got here before 10:30 and the line barely moved, but we made it in right before 11:00 so we only had to pay $10. Would have been nicer to have gotten in for free, though! Upstairs in the main room they played hip hop. Some slow beats at times, but good songs nonetheless. I wouldn't say it was overly crowded in there. However, having people constantly walk by no matter where you were on the dance floor was seriously annoying! Maybe it had to do with the layout of the place, but still, not fun getting bumped into constantly. And there were hands all over as people walked by. Did you really need to walk on by? Or was that just an excuse to cop a feel here and there?! And not just the guys but the girls! I even had a girl get all touchy-feely! I preferred the downstairs room where they were playing a mix of hip hop, R&B, and top 40. Not as many people dancing in there but plenty of space for me to get my groove on, and that's all I need! I didn't go into the room with the fish tank but watch out people, the entrance to the room is over to your left. A few more feet to the right and you'll walk into a mirror! A couple stars knocked off for the crowdedness and all the "walking not dancing" people in the main room upstairs, so 3 stars for the good music and my own personal dancefloor in the downstairs room!
by Cport J. on I was way impressed when this place opened. I think I went there one of the first nights. They clearly have the coolest space around, they have a very solid drink menu, if not the most innovative, and they do have pretty inventive bar food. I started going pretty regularly with friends and almost always had a lot of fun. The DJ lineup is definitely one of the best around for a place outside downtown. It wouldn't be out of place in Manhattan, which I think is a good thing for Boston, and we could use more of it. So I liked this place a lot for awhile, but it's getting to be too much of a scene for me. I mean, waiting in line in Cambridge for over thirty minutes to go anywhere or do anything seems a bit much. Now the bartenders are too busy, the space is packed with people spilling all over the place, and the rolling seats get in the way. Anyway, I hope the owners (same as Cambridge 1 and Audubon Circle) open 5 more places as good as this one in different neighborhoods around town, so that I can get that original vibe back. Boston is a decentralized town, organized around random squares and neighborhoods, and it should have this sort of cool, random nightlife offering in places from Somerville to Southie.
