by David Z. on Came here because of an old-school http://restaurant.comgift certificate (groupon will probably run them off the interweb soon). The certificate was actually for their sister restaurant Bissap Baobab, so I asked when we walked in to make sure it was valid. This guy (Bongo) said it was fine, so we got a table. My group shared the plantains (with yummy dipping sauce), as well as three entrees: N'Dole, Mafe, and Cari Yap. All were good, but my favorite was the Mafe, because of its thick peanut sauce. Their interesting margaritas (ginger, hibiscus) are also good and well-balanced. Our table was a little wonky, but the place had a lively, authentic atmosphere and a good crowd (lots of cute girls). The only problem came up when we tried to pay, and our server told us we couldn't use the certificate. After a bit of arguing and a 10-minute wait, they relented.
by Laverne Shont on Chocolate Thursday is where it's at. All kinds of up and coming black comedians who can do their non-comic view material in front of a live Audience. Also pulls in a number of well know/established black comedians also. Lot's of fun.
