Much like Kid Koala, Some of my Best Friends are DJs. This means I end up at a lot of dj bars. Triple Crown is my new favorite. It beats (no pun intended) the hell out of the last incarnation, Octavia Lounge, and is staffed with bartenders I'm pretty sure have day jobs as underwear models. Oh- and that Chardmo fellow...he's one hotty patotty.

I came last Thursday for the urbanis happy hour and didn't get any of the LA treatment at the door. I was actually a little disappointed that I didn't even run into a bouncer given everybody else's reviews, we cruised on in without getting a second glance from the two people at coat check. The night that I was there seemed like a good night to be there with a good mix of people, from the posh to the not so posh, and none of those snooty up and down looks from anyone. It was a comfortable spot with ample seating. The most difficult part of the night was dodging and weaving your way around the obstacle course of people chatting, waving their arms about while you are carrying multiple drinks. Service was good once we got it...we had to go and get our first round of drinks because we could not find our cocktail waitress, but once she realized we were there, she was very attentive, as were the guys clearing the table. I can't quite decide if I like the unisex bathrooms. It is always fun making a bathroom run with boys and girls, and talking over the stalls to them, but when it comes to the fixing yourself up in the mirror, always feel strange picking that stubborn piece of spinach out of my teeth with a guy next to me. I know for sure that I don't like the black toilets...so 80's. I like the loungy feel of Vessel, and based on my experience I would try it again. I am not so sure if I would pay a $20 cover to get in and deal with the attitudes that some other rateclubers have gotten, but if invited back, I wouldn't say no.
