Good sound quality? Check. Initimate, almost romantic atmosphere? Check. Cheap-o beers for those who don't want to shell out for the otherwise expensive drink menu? Check. The wood work and burgundy walls in this once-gloried speakeasy are so rich and the lighting is so dim, one feels cozy upon entering. For the starving, a varied menu covers the basics and offers some tasty treats- from soup to calamari to sandwhiches, pizzas, and pork chops. I once was in charge of planning a holiday party and I insisted that we hold it at Cafe DuNord with Lavey Smith and Her Red-Hot Skillet Lickers. The food, staff, and entertainment were all perfect- complete with swing dance lessons. I am holding back one star because seeing sold-out shows here is less than comfortable. The stage is low-to-the-ground and the ceiling is low, so a couple tall people can ruin a view from just about anywhere.

Met up with some friends at O'Terrills on a Friday night, and there was definitely a welcoming vibe from the place. I am not 100%, but I am pretty sure one of the owners came over and gave us beads. That was pretty cool. The place it self is located on busy Piedmont Rd, and the parking is extremely scarce. It was scary parking my car on Piedmont, but a few beers inside made me forget about it. They also had live music, which was, well, interesting, but for such a small place, it was honestly just too loud. We ended up leaving shortly after the music started because it was impeding our ability to talk to one another. As for the food, most of my friends seemed pretty pleased, but I was told the buffalo chicken wrap "didn't taste right". The prices were pretty decent for food, but were actually a little high for booze. If you are looking for an Irish place to hang out, then you may want to check it out; but get there early so you can park on the lot, and not have to worry about your car sitting on Piedmont.
