by Andy S. on One of my fave spots to catch live music in the world, du Nord is intimate with it's small dance floor and slightly (about a meter) raised stage. You can also get some nice beers on tap for $4.50 (Bear Republic's Racer 5 is my goto). Great lineups -- it's not uncommon for the opening band to outshine the headliner. But the sound is lacking a bit -- last time I was there the speakers were overtaxed on the vocals (three singers) and it got a little muddy. Another negative -- the men's room smells so bad you'd think you're just supposed to pee in the corner.... perhaps they ran out of those pink triangles?
by Charisse Mccarroll on I went on a Friday night around 10:30 (in order to get in free) and the place was empty. We stayed for an hour dancing solo on the dance floor and drinking a lot. The decor was lovely and the place slowly began to fill out. I returned on a Saturday around 12:30 and it was a completely different scene. I had to pay $10 to get in ($15 if you aren't on the list, which is easier to do on their website) but it was well worth it. The dance floor was full of people having fun and a much more mixed crowd then the previous Friday (which was all Asian). When I go again it will be on Saturdays only, just before 11 (when they start to make you pay) and I'll remember that it doesn't start hopping until after midnight.
