by Alene Mugge on How funny that this place is called the "Greatest" bar when in fact it's probably the shittiest. Yes there are 4 floors, but they're all relatively similar and not that exciting. The music is pretty typical and the crowd is lame- but honestly I would be able to handle all of that... my rating is not at all about the atmosphere but moreso about the bouncers. I have never been more disrespected by bar staff in my life. I went out with a few friends, yes we had a few drinks but I certainly was not drunk by any means, not even tipsy. I went outside to see a friend who wasn't allowed to come into the bar because it was too late or something, and I chatted with him for a bit along with my other girl friend who was in the bar with me and also was not at all tipsy. The two of us were going to go back inside- our friends were still in there and so were our purses. The bouncers wouldn't allow us in claiming we were "too drunk" and that he saw us "stumbling all over the place" outside. What? He refused to budge on this observation of his and kept telling us there was no way we could get back in because we were "so wasted". Excuse me? Even when we mentioned we needed to get our things, he wouldn't allow us and basically said too bad. Then I said I was just going to wait by the door then, since my other friend was inside looking for our things. The bouncers told us to back away from the door, like we were some threat, and brought an equally asshole-ish cop out front. Before I could do anything he very harshly GRABBED my arm and told me that I was about to get arrested for "being an idiot". WHAT?! THEN my friend who was inside came out with our stuff, and later told me a similar tale with the ridiculous bouncers-- he went outside to smoke and very quickly came back in but one of the bouncers who clearly saw him come outside, told him that there was no way that the stamp on his hand came from that bar. Haha whattttt ultimately they let him back in but seriously I think they are hired to be straight up douche bags. Anyway I am never going back here. We later went to Apollo to eat and we saw a blacked out girl on the bathroom floor who literally looked like she was melting into the floor Alex Mack style... now that I can see being a problem with the Greatest bar bouncers.. but a perfectly coherent not drunk girl?! Wtf.
