I had fun at Mayan and that's all that matters to me.  It's been a while since I've been to a mega club.  It's a rainy night and the club was packed.  I liked the music and diversity of the place.  Yes there are these creepy old men and not many hot guys ;)  But if you are looking for a  sweaty night of dance, Mayan's got it.

I would give this place zero stars if rateclubs would just let me. Lord,  I don't even know where to begin. What an incredibly poorly run establishment. This is some lame sushi restaurant that tries to be an even more lame music venue. The only reason I went there was because my boyfriend's band got roped into doing a show there for a friend under false pretenses (i won't even get into that part). Sound check was supposed to be at 8...we showed up and the place was totally empty. They weren't even serving any food yet. LAME. The sound guy was 45 minutes late and the manager could care less, other than to tell us that we can't set up yet cuz the sound guy is very particular...the big, tough door guy Mauricio or something was a total ass...as if he was running the door at the Whiskey on Sunset or something, demanding IDs rudely, inspecting them with attitude, going through the band's gear, etc. We had gotten in before he was even there and had already started drinking and he wanted to run through his you can't get in without my lame say so routine again. Get a real job and a clue dude. Nothing was organized, no one seemed to be in charge, no one offered any help or info...we tried to order food finally at 9pm and were told the food is run by a separate establishment...and it took forever to get food even though we were the ONLY two people eating! The food was really mediocre and over priced and they were out of ginger, at a sushi restaurant??? we got no place settings, no water...no service. it was awful. Anyway, the gruff sound guy took his sweet time to figure out what to do and it threw everything off by an hour and a half! zero accountability or hospitality. We didn't pay cover of course, but they insisted on charging a $20 cover for patrons to come into a totally empty place. Way to encourage a crowd, retards. You should be paying people to come in to this dive. How this place makes ANY money is beyond me...the only people who were nice were the bartenders, but the moron manager kept stopping them from hooking us up( open vodka bar at 10, but 9:58 was too early to give us a free drink...what a tool. )  He did nothing of any value. All the bad reviews are right on, do NOT go here, its totally LAME and the people running it are clueless. I predict this place will shut down soon anyway.

i love clooneys. 1. because they will never read this. 2. because being new in the city and going to clooneys = i will never meet anyone.....ever. (yay and cry at the same time) 3. its my nerdy baseball dive where i don't feel bad about liking sports 4. because its a good reminder why i don't want to drink too much 5. cause i don't have to look up every time someone comes in, ("is that someone i can meet and connect with.....gasp!") NOPE. it is a red nosed afternoon drunk who wants to hit on the bartender. 6. because its a real ass dive bar, the people there are actually dying in front of me.
